Breath for Winter Wellness in Oneonta, NY
Kelsir Rockefeller, owner of Yoga People Oneonta @yogapeople_oneonta, has been teaching yoga in Oneonta for eight years after returning from three years teaching in Texas. Born and raised in Oneonta, Rockefeller said the community drew her back and continues to motivate her work.
Yoga People Oneonta is the only yoga studio in the city and offers a wide range of classes, including active flows, hot yoga, strength-based classes, and relaxation-focused sessions. Rockefeller said the studio’s goal is to provide options for people of all ages, mobility levels, and experience.
Students range from college-aged participants to older adults. Rockefeller said accessibility is a priority, and classes are designed to support different physical abilities and needs.
“Yoga is a way to be more present,” Rockefeller said.
She noted that long winters in Upstate New York can contribute to stress and anxiety, and that breath-focused practices can help people manage seasonal pressure and remain connected during the colder months.
