On the night of January 3, 2026, Schenectady, New York mayoral candidate Orlondo Otis Hundley @orlondohundley stood in front of City Hall and live-streamed from dusk until dawn.
The act was an effort to confront systemic failures, such as homelessness and the exclusion of civilians from governing decision-making.
Throughout the night, Hundley spoke with many people from vastly different backgrounds, each carrying their own hopes for the future. Among them were six supporters who tuned into the livestream and wanted to experience it in person, as well as unhoused individuals he met seeking refuge from the harsh upstate winter on the library steps.
The livestream became a deeply eye-opening experience. By sunrise, Hundley was marked by heavy bags under his eyes and feet numb from the cold — a night no one should have to endure.
